Vintage 925 sterling silver flower basket brooch set with marcasite and an array of colorful faceted gemstones. An especially pretty and detailed floral basket design, with scrolling branches and leaves rising from an openwork basket densely accented with sparkling marcasites. The flowers are formed from prong-set multicolor gemstones in shades of purple, blue, green, golden yellow and red, creating a jeweled bouquet effect. The colorful stones appear consistent with the amethyst, blue topaz, peridot, citrine and garnet combinations commonly found in this style of sterling jewelry. The basket and surrounding foliage are embellished with numerous individually set marcasites, giving the brooch considerable sparkle despite its petite size. Marked 925 on the reverse for sterling silver. Traditional pin back with locking safety clasp. Measurements: approximately 1.6” H × 1.9” W.
