Ornate gilded brass, deep green marble and sculptural cherubs give this Imperial mantel clock a commanding European presence. Standing 24.5 inches tall and weighing approximately 35 pounds, the substantial case features elaborate scrollwork, figural ornament, a rooster finial and rich green stone accents framing the Roman numeral dial.   The elaborate composition draws heavily from French Rococo and later revival design, where architectural forms, gilded ornament and classical figures were combined into dramatic decorative clocks. The Imperial dial and richly modeled case make this a substantial statement piece for a mantel, foyer or formal interior. The clock is currently working.   Condition reflects age and previous ownership. The clock-face glass is missing, the cherubs are slightly misaligned, and one decorative brass string below the rooster is missing.
