Salviati used engraved signatures during the later mid-20th century, and purple-and-blue cased glass examples are documented from this period. The layered coloration and clear outer glass reflect the sommerso tradition central to postwar Murano design.   Its organic freeform silhouette makes this a strong example of Italian modernist glass.
