Beautiful antique Bohemian art glass liquor decanter / carafe featuring rich cobalt blue glass with extensive gold decoration and delicate hand-painted polychrome enamel floral detailing. This striking piece has an unusual form with a broad rounded, bell-shaped cobalt body rising into an exceptionally long, slender gilded neck and terminating in a hand-formed flared / ruffled mouth. The cobalt body is richly decorated with ornate raised gold scrollwork surrounding delicate floral sprays in shades of blue, white and pink with green leaves. Additional small raised decorative accents appear along the heavily gilded neck. The form and elaborate combination of cobalt glass, extensive gilding and raised enamel floral decoration are characteristic of fine late 19th to early 20th century Bohemian decorative glass. Comparable period liquor and cordial services have been attributed to Moser and other Bohemian glass manufacturers/decorators. Similar decorated drinking services are known with tall narrow-necked decanters accompanied by matching gilded and enameled cordial glasses and serving trays, suggesting this piece may originally have formed part of a larger liquor service.
