Hagen Renaker started in Culver City in the owners garage in 1945. They started their business making elaborately decorated plates, butter pats, and shadow boxes. They switched over to small figurines after the success of their first figurine of a duck. This tiny figurine can easily be mistaken for a mouse. After looking through the Hagen Renaker online catalog, it is actually the Chihuahua Pup Begging-Brown #338Brn. This one doesn’t have the lifelike eyes or mouth line painted on it. I’m not sure if that determines its age. This tiny chihuahua was designed by Tom Masterson and was originally issued from 1958-1978. It was reissued in the spring of 2009.
