Stanley Bailey No. 4 bench plane with smooth sole from Type 9 from the early 1900's. Overall this Stanley No. 4 bench plane is in good shape, especially considering it’s more than 100 years old. Most of the original japanning is intact. Stanley Bailey No. 4 bench plane with smooth sole from Type 9 from the early 1900's. PAT. MAR-25-02 and AUG-19-02 cast behind the frog, Stanley etched on the lateral adjustment level, and of course the Stanley patented blade. Overall this Stanley No. 4 bench plane is in good shape, especially considering it’s more than 100 years old. Most of the original japanning is intact. It appears to be in good working order, but can definitely use a tune up. The wood handle has been repaired and the front knob is missing the bottom part. I believe all parts are original for the time period, but I am not an expert so please analyze the pictures closely and use your best judgement.
