Antique French Empire Style Candelabra and two candlesticks from the late 19th century, crafted from solid heavy, sand cast brass. The upper bobeche and lower neck also feature detailed acanthus leaf and fluted patterns. Features a central 4 light candelabra standing 21 inches tall, and weighs a solid 7 lbs. 13 oz., with a curved, tripartite black plinth, made of patinated metal, with a rich gilded ormolu finish on the ornate sections, including scrolling acanthus leaves and paw feet. The fluted column tapers upward with a contrasting patina.  The two elegant antique gilt, and patinated bronze French Empire candlesticks compliment the beautiful candelabra, featuring acanthus leaf motifs, black patinated columns, ornate scrolled feet, and palm capitals. The upper bobeche and lower neck also feature detailed acanthus leaf and fluted patterns.  19th Century French Empire Candelabra Solid Brass  Gilt and Patinated Bronze  Four Light  21" & Two 10"   COMPOSITION: Heavy, solid sand cast brass with original patina finish, bright gilt brass ormolu accents and bronze noir column shafts. ERA: Late 19th Century French Empire / Napoleon III Revival (circa 1870 - 1900) THE SAND CASTING & CHASING: The raised, twisted rope ring was cast directly into the solid brass column mold, after the raw casting cooled, a metal artisan used small handheld steel chisels and punches, a process known as ciselure (chasing) to manually sharpen the grooves of the rope design, giving it a crisp, three dimensional texture. HAND and CHASED PALMETTE / WAVE DESIGN : The stylized, undulating wave pattern around the rim is a classic Neo Classical palmette variant popular during the French Empire. PRECISION LATHE TURNING: The smooth, stepped circular collar in the center features fine concentric lines. This component was spun on a manual lathe. DECORATIVE DETAILS and PATINA :  Classic Neo Classical/Empire motifs including elegantly fluted columns, ornate acanthus foliage scrolls, hand chased palmette/wave removable bobeches, and tripodal bases resting on detailed lion paw feet. The patinated black node branch arms emerge from the gilded brass collars and seamlessly lock into the bright gilded brass, maintaining the signature high contrast look throughout. Displays a gorgeous, antique patina, high friction areas show natural handling wear that reveals the warm golden yellow brass underneath, recessed areas hold a rich, deep chocolate brown tarnish. Features a vibrant natural green copper carbonate (verdigris) oxidation, proving a non ferrous copper alloy base  (completely non magnetic). AUTHENTICITY:  The hollow interior cavities display genuine granular sand casting textures, manual file marks, and traces of original baked sand core mixture. Underside of base on large candelabra features, hand fitted 19th century structural wood insert blocks designed to absorb tie rod compression, complete with protective felt backing. CONDITION: overall very good antique condition, structures are solid and stable, the smaller candlesticks had a maintenance update of replaced underside screws. Consistent with the 19th century age, there is patina and some minor flaking to the black bronze noir lacquer finish on the base of small candelabras, please see all photos.
