One section deeply textured, cross-hatched brushed finish, sharply contrasting with mirror-poised high-shine smooth segment. Marked Hayward, no purity stamps.  About the Maker:   Established 1851 in Attleboro, MA (originally as Thompson, Hayward & Co) by Charles Edward Hayward (1824-1886). Started small business with Archibald Thompson . Early1900s, various partnerships then operated as Walter E Hayward Co. Known for high-quality, did not deal in cheap electroplate; mainly used sterling silver, heavy gold-filled 120 12K, and solid 14K gold. Also manufactured approved insignia and badges for US Government. 1970 merged with A&Z Chain Co to form A&Z Hayward Co. Marks include WEH and HAYWARD.
