Offered is a beautiful antique Chinese women’s silk ao (traditional jacket) featuring extensive hand embroidery, original frog closures, and richly decorated floral trim. This elegant garment is crafted from luminous blue silk with intricate floral motifs embroidered throughout the front, back, sleeves, collar, and decorative borders. The jacket retains its original construction, including hand-finished trim, embroidered side vents, and an original Chinese workshop ink stamp inside. A partial paper label remains, although the original label itself is no longer present. Based on the style, construction, and materials, this jacket is believed to date to the late Qing/Republic period, approximately 1910 to 1935 (date is an informed estimate and not guaranteed). I have not attempted to clean or restore the garment. Measurements: The entire length of the coat from top to bottom is 45 inches long. From the sleeve to the neck, it is 24 inches. The waist is 24 inches. The armpit to the bottom length of the coat is 30 inches and the neck opening is 5 1/2 inches.
