The center of the lid features an incised scrolling design accented with brass-tone leaf-shaped inlays. Additional deeply carved floral and leaf designs decorate the surrounding lid and sides. The box opens on two small brass-tone hinges and has a single unlined wooden interior compartment, making it suitable for jewelry, keepsakes, trinkets, small collectibles, or decorative storage. The underside is  stamped “INDIA,” confirming the country of manufacture. The exact type of wood is unknown and has not been identified. Approximate Measurements: 6" wide 5¾" front to back 2¼" high Condition: Pre-owned condition with visible wear from use and storage. There are scratches, scuffs, finish wear, marks, and areas of checking/separation along some edges and joints, including portions of the lid.
