Completely handmade from Sandcast Silver of a high grade (acid tested as Sterling though piece is unmarked) A single green glass cabochon 'stone" is bezel-set in the center.  A pair of hand-faceted silver balls on each side of the green glass cabochon. This pendant displays classic tribal silversmith techniques that tourist jewelry always lacks:  hand-applied granulation, h and faceted silver decor on a high-grade silver sandcast base. These methods go back to  Etruscan goldsmiths, Greek and Roman jewelers, P ersian metalworkers and Central Asian tribal artisans. It is slow, meticulous work - each facet was cut separately with  a tiny chisel (a burin) or a sharp engraving tool The pendant weighs almost 19.9 grams and is only 1 & 1/2 inches wide. I have owned it for over 50 years. F rom  my store "Old Horizons Antiques."  In the 1960s and late 70s it was at 195 Bleecker St. between MacDougal and Sixth Ave in Greenwich Village.
