History of Royal Doulton Bunnykins The first Bunnykins products were nursery ware items such as bowls, cups, and plates, which became instantly popular. In 1939, Royal Doulton expanded the Bunnykins line to include porcelain figurines. The initial set of figurines, modelled by Charles Noke, consisted of just six designs. However, the outbreak of World War II halted production, and it was not until 1969, when Royal Doulton acquired the Beswick factory, that the production of Bunnykins figurines resumed. The post-war Bunnykins figurines were designed by Royal Doulton’s art director Walter Hayward and modeller Albert Hallam. These figurines retained the charm and whimsy of the original illustrations, depicting Bunnykins characters in various professions, activities, and historical costumes. Each figurine was meticulously crafted from fine bone china, known for its durability and delicate finish. Over the years Royal Doulton has released over 500 different Bunnykins figurines, including numerous limited editions, special colorways, and exclusive designs.
