This gorgeous Afghan pendant was handmade during the mid-1900's for the nomadic Kuchi tribe in the region of Waziristan in Central Asia. Sharp and/or irregular edges and barbs are also possible. The two-toned red bead in the upper portion of the circular component is actually a bead that was partially replaced with 2 separate beads, accidentally creating a stunning contrasting design. This gorgeous Afghan pendant was handmade during the mid-1900's for the nomadic Kuchi tribe in the region of Waziristan in Central Asia. It is vintage tribal-jewelry, not a new reproduction. Its unique shape has a beaded circular component with beaded horns - a design similar to the turban jewelry of the opulent old Mughal Empire. Long charm dangles with unusual bells hang below, swaying noisily together with movement. The two-toned red bead in the upper portion of the circular component is actually a bead that was partially replaced with 2 separate beads, accidentally creating a stunning contrasting design. I've taken close-ups of this so you can see what I mean, although from a distance it looks deliberately planned. You don't see that this part it is 2 beads from a distance. All beads are secure in their settings. Regardless, I have discounted the price because of the changed beads (even though I think it looks fantastic!) This large pendant is in excellent condition, if not considering the replaced beads. It has a warm age-patina and mild wear-patterns.. Please note that patina reflects the light when photographed, so items may appear brighter in images than they really are. Great for collecting, belly dance, theater costumes, stage productions, festivals, and making a dramatic statement.
