Vintage woven rattan and bamboo caddy basket with a high arched carrying handle and a divided interior — a warm, textural piece with real presence that works beautifully in cottage, coastal, farmhouse, or collected interiors. The basket is built on a steam-bent rattan pole frame rather than woven free-form, which is what gives it its structure and gentle hourglass silhouette. Every joint is hand-wrapped in rattan peel. The interior is fitted with a rattan divider frame creating three small compartments alongside one long open section, and the underside is a solid wood panel set into a frame — a construction detail you rarely see on decorative baskets at this size. The layout is ideal as a flatware and napkin caddy for outdoor dining or a buffet table: forks, knives, and spoons in the three small sections, napkins in the long channel. Estimated early 2000s. There is no makers label on the base, so the date is my best assessment based on construction and finish. MEASUREMENTS (approximate, measured by hand) Overall: 12" long × 6" wide × 12.5" tall to top of handle Interior: three small compartments approx. 3" × 2.5" each, plus one long section approx. 10" × 2" Interior depth: approx. 4.5" (varies slightly, as the rim dips in a curve) Please note the compartments are narrow — approx. 2 to 2.5" across. They suit cutlery, folded napkins, mail, remotes, shakers, and slim bottles beautifully. Dinner plates, wine bottles, and wide jars will not fit. CONDITION — please read Good vintage condition with age-appropriate wear. This is a used decorative item, not new, and is sold as-is. Specifically: · Color and tone vary across the piece. The finish includes a dark antiquing glaze rubbed into the weave, and there is natural discoloration, darkening, and uneven color across the reed, rim, and handle from age, handling, and light exposure. Some areas read noticeably lighter or darker than others. This is characteristic of the piece and is not considered damage. · One wrapped rattan binding at a joint has a loose end that has lifted and curled away from the frame. It is cosmetic and the joint itself remains tight. Shown clearly in the photos. Ive left it as-is so you can decide how to handle it — for most people a small dab of wood glue tucked under the loose end, pressed flat and held overnight, tidies it up nicely. · General surface wear throughout: minor scuffs, small nicks, light scratches, and dust or debris in the tight crevices of the weave. · Slight fraying or roughness at some cut reed ends. · Felt foot pads show wear and are darkened with age. · The frame is solid, the handle is secure, the basket sits level, and there are no breaks in the weave, no unraveling at the rim, and no structural damage.
