It was introduced around 1964 as the Style 825 Table Seasoner, designed by Jens Quistgaard. The original 825A variant had 9 salt holes and a low pivot; the 825B had six salt holes and a higher pivot due to production cost adjustments.  The top section is a salt shaker, filled by removing one of the teak stoppers and funneling salt into the hole.  Quistgaard used top-quality grinding mechanisms made of brass by Peugeot Frères Lion, France — the grinder bearing the authentic lion and arrow insignia, considered among the best on the market for nearly 200 years.  Brass grinder features Peujot Frères Lion with lion insignia.
