Each piece carries the desirable “Hand Painted NIPPON” maple-leaf backstamp, associated with early Japanese export porcelain from the late 19th/early 20th century. What makes this set especially attractive is the combination of the softly painted green, yellow and lavender landscape scenes with the extensive raised gold/moriage-style decoration. Gold branches and leaves extend around the interiors and continue into the deeply scalloped rims, giving the pieces wonderful dimension and texture.
