You will receive: the display box pictured, 27 still sealed packs, and 135 individual cards which have been removed from the wrappers* (see below). Please examine photos for condition. The display box and packs are the original DONRUSS packaging. DISPLAY BOX: TOP FLAP:  Some of the perforations are still intact. There are minor creases at each top corner, approx one-half inch off the corners (see photo #'s 8, 10, 12, and 14). The remainder of the top lid shows little to no sign of wear, and retains great color (see photo #1).  Top lid has mini-versions images of the cards of Cal Ripken, Jr., Jose Canseco, and Kirby Puckett (Bonus MVP insert), and mini image of the Warren Spahn puzzle.  TOP  CORNERS:  Upper left is slightly dinged with minor creases (see photo # 8). Upper right corner is slightly nicer condition (photo #10). The lower left and lower right show some light wear (photo #9). BOTTOM CORNERS:  Lower right corner dinged with a slight crease (photo #13). The bottom corner near the UPC panel is dinged (photo #16). The other two bottom corners show slight dings (photo #'s 14 and 15). SIDE PANELS:  Both long side panels are slightly bowed, and show minor wear (see photo #'s 6 and 8). Both have mini images of cards of Don Mattingly and Tim Raines. FRONT SHORT PANEL:  signs of minor wear and minor creases (photo #9). BACK SHORT PANEL (with UPC code): in good condition, with a couple subtle creases (photo #7). BOTTOM PANEL: The Donruss display box is designed with a flat bottom panel. It shows signs of wear, and a minor ink smear across approx three inches toward one corner (photo#11). Display box indicates the logos of DONRUSS, LEAF, Inc., and MLB. Packs also include the logo of the MLBPA.  UPC of box is 0-10700-82960-3; pack 0-10700-82600.  Printed in U.S.A. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- These 1989 DONRUSS wax packs  were issued with 15 cards with a puzzle card in each pack. In the 27 packs, there are a total of 405 cards and 27 puzzle cards (3 pieces per card, total 81 puzzle pieces).  The 1989 puzzle is Warren Spahn.  * NOTE:  Nine (9) of the packs from this box were opened. All 135 individual cards are a part of this listing. The wrappers, and the 9 puzzle cards, were NOT included when this box was acquired. The loose cards are placed in team bags, and will be protected and packaged inside the display box when you receive it.  NOTE:  TOTAL CARDS in this listing:  540 (405 unopended plus 135 loose) and 27 puzzle cards (= 81 puzzle pieces).  The 27 unopended packs appear to be as-new condition, and are tightly sealed (please see photo #'s 2 through 5, 17, and 18).  Please note that old-school wax packs will result in one card from each pack having a mild wax stain.   Cards inside the packs are presumed to be, otherwise, in excellent to near mint condition, as issued. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The regular set consists of 660 total cards. ( ** these are among the 135 loose cards in this listing!) RATED ROOKIES:  Card numbers 28 through 47. These have "RATED ROOKIE" in bold blue letters in the upper corner (replacing the team logo on regular individual player cards). Notable players include Ken Griffey, Jr., Sandy Alomar, Jr.**, Pete Harnish, Tom Gordon, Gregg Jefferies**, Randy Johnson**, and  Gary Sheffield. CHECKLISTS: Six, numbered # 100, 200, 300, 400, 500 and 600. INSERTS in wax packs: BONUS MVP:  26 cards, numbered BC-1 through BC-26 are random inserts. MLB expanded for the 1993 season when the Colorado Rockies and Florida Marlins began play. B) Typical trading cards sheets include 132 cards. To print the BONUS MVP's, Donruss used an additional printing sheet for the inserts.  Two hobby reference sources indicates that the extra sheet had the 26 inserts plus 106 regular set cards (mostly in the 500's and 600's)  that were double printed. One would likely to have been  the second version of checklist # 600. Card #600 exists with the checklist of #578 through 660, with a large "DONRUSS" logo on the back. The second version of card #600 is checklist with card numbers 578 through 660 plus the BC1 through BC26 inserts (without the large logo).  Additionally, two versions of the second version exist, one with "Curt" and the other "Kurt" for #635 Curt Schilling.  ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- These packs may be an introduction to 1989 DONRUSS for a younger collector.
