Antique 1890s Photo Horse Drawn Carriage Large Group Victorian Outing 8.5x5.25 Description Wonderful original antique photograph showing a large group of Victorian-era men and women seated aboard an open horse-drawn passenger carriage or excursion wagon during what appears to have been a group outing. Approximately ten passengers are visible along with the driver. The men and women are dressed in excellent period fashions, including bowler/derby hats, suits, elaborate women's hats, long dresses and skirts. Several passengers are covered with lap robes or carriage blankets. The large open carriage features multiple rows of passenger seating, large spoked wheels and a raised driver's seat at the front. Although the horse or horses are outside the photograph, the image provides a terrific detailed view of an early horse-drawn passenger vehicle. The group is posed outdoors in a wooded setting beside a rustic building, suggesting a recreational excursion, country outing, resort trip or similar gathering. No photographer, location or individuals are identified. Based on the clothing and photographic style, the image likely dates from approximately the 1890s to early 1900s.
