It is definitely rare / hard to find as I could find no matches for this piece online.  We therefore priced it up a bit and will take offers and lower the price as time goes on.   It seems to be cast iron and filled with another metal-- perhaps lead or some kind of alloy with lead.  It is quite heavy for its size: It is about 4" tall, 4" wide, and 2" "deep" from back to front.  It weighs over 4 pounds. The flat back of the piece is not flat-- it is rounded; this appears to possibly be from the production of the piece-- the metal may have been heated and bent by the inner metal being poured into it. It's in great shape but for a blemish on the right side of the dog's muzzle-- this seems like more of a production flaw than actual damage.  Otherwise nice-looking, it just got a little dusty, but I kept it that way so that the new owner can handle cleaning it (or not) as they see fit.
