It has a very mid-century modern (MCM) vibe! This is a vintage hand-carved wooden elephant figurine, highly popular as a collectible home decor piece. It appears to be sculpted from a single block of heavy, dense, warm brown piece of wood that showcases a prominent natural swirling grain pattern along the body. I'm not sure what type of wood (guessing teak or rosewood) and I'm also not sure what the tusks are made of (not ivory) but they are unbroken, which is rare with elephant figurines of this age. It has a very mid-century modern (MCM) vibe!  The elephant is about 8 inches tall, 9 inches long, and is heavy for its size at a little over 3 pounds. Between the heavy wood grain and the subtle carvings to create skin folds and other character, it has a lot of detail to admire. Many carvings such as this one were handcrafted by artisans in South and Southeast Asia (predominantly Thailand and India) and widely collected during the mid-20th century. This one is in very good condition, but you can judge that for yourself with my thorough set of photos.  An excellent addition to the collection of lovers of elephants and/or MCM decor!  Condition: Used.
