Three exposed clay areas are visible around the foot. Authentic Japanese Kuro Raku chawan (matcha tea bowl) by Sasaki Shoraku / Shoraku Kiln , featuring the traditional Mount Fuji motif. This striking handmade tea bowl has a deep, textured black Raku glaze accented by a contrasting buff/cream silhouette of Mount Fuji (Fuji-san) . Its rounded hand-formed shape, irregular surface and substantial foot are characteristic of traditional Japanese Raku tea ware. The underside bears the impressed Shoraku (松楽) maker's seal. Specialist Japanese tea-ware sources document this design as a Kuro Raku “Fuji” chawan by Sasaki Shoraku , with comparable examples approximately 12 cm in diameter × 8.2 cm high. Three exposed clay areas are visible around the foot. These are characteristic hasami-no-ato (tong marks) associated with removing Raku ware during the firing process and should not be mistaken for chips or damage. Other documented Sasaki Shoraku Kuro Raku bowls display these characteristic tong marks. An excellent example of traditional Japanese tea-ceremony pottery, suitable for preparing matcha or displaying as part of a Japanese ceramics collection. Natural variations in the glaze, texture and form are inherent to handmade Raku pottery. Original wooden presentation/storage box (tomobako) is not included.
