Wonderful vintage West German Christmas angel figurine featuring a kneeling/praying angel dressed in a pale blue robe. The angel has a hand-painted face with rosy cheeks, blonde hair and hands held together around what appears to be a small red candle or light detail. One of the most distinctive features is the pair of stiff bristle/brush-style wings, a construction seen on some mid-century German Christmas decorations. The combination of the molded composition/ceramic-like body, delicate painted face and unusual wings gives this piece great vintage character. The underside is clearly stamped “Made in West Germany,” dating it to the period when West Germany existed (1949–1990). Condition is vintage with surface soiling, discoloration, paint/finish wear and wear/irregularity to the brush wings. There appears to be some cracking/crazing or separation around the bottom edge/base. Please review all photos carefully. Condition: Used.
