Vintage Coach Compartment Bag, style 9850, crafted in the USA from Coach’s signature natural full-grain glove-tanned cowhide in classic British Tan. Originally introduced around 1989, the Compartment Bag is a wonderful example of Coach’s utilitarian leather design from this era. Its deceptively simple rectangular silhouette opens into a beautifully constructed multi-compartment interior, allowing the bag to expand and organize belongings while maintaining a streamlined profile. Finished with solid brass-tone hardware, an adjustable shoulder/crossbody strap, turnlock closure, exterior slip pocket, and interior zip compartment. This example remains in excellent structural vintage condition. The leather is exceptionally buttery soft, supple, and beautifully broken in, with the substantial feel characteristic of vintage Coach glove-tanned leather. Stitching, piping, strap attachments, hardware, compartments, and overall construction remain strong and sound. Condition notes: There are two more noticeable darker stains/marks along the bottom of the bag, shown clearly in the photographs. Additional lighter surface marks, tonal variation, scuffs, and patina are present throughout from age and normal use, but are considerably less noticeable and add to the character of the leather. The interior zip pocket has significant color loss/fading to the suede surface. This area was initially suspected to possibly be mildew and was conservatively treated with white vinegar as a precaution; after cleaning and inspection, the appearance remained consistent with loss of color rather than active mold. Please review the close-up photographs of this area. The bag has been gently cleaned and conditioned while preserving the natural patina of the original leather. No attempt has been made to cover the exterior stains or erase the character acquired over its approximately 30-year life.
