This is a stunning, turn-of-the-century antique porcelain "squat" (short-form) hot chocolate pot complete with its rare, matching original underplate. Manufactured in the historic porcelain region of Bavaria, Germany, circa 1890–1915, this set is a spectacular example of Edwardian-era tableware artistry. The pot features an exquisite, professionally hand-painted motif of soft pink cabbage roses nestled against a subtly blended pastel green and cream gradient background. The handle, lid finial, and underplate rim are richly accented with heavy, brilliant gold gilding. This set is in wonderful antique condition. No chips, cracks, hairlines, or fleabites anywhere on the body, lid, or underplate. No crazing in the glaze. The gold gilding is bright and intact, showing virtually no signs of the typical "gold rub" or handling wear common for porcelain of this age. The bottom of the underplate is stamped with the authentic regional "Bavaria" blank mark used by high-end German manufacturers at the turn of the century.
