When we rescued them, the smaller bunny arrived with one ear taped to his back and a tiny Band-Aid covering the spot where his ear used to be. Both rabbits show minor surface wear consistent with age, handling and previous display. Well, somebody has been in the carrot patch. 🐰🥕 This adorable vintage pair of HOMCO #1410 bunny figurines appears to have had a very successful afternoon in the garden. One little rabbit is standing proudly in his blue-gray jacket with two enormous carrots tucked under his arm. His companion, dressed in pale green, has carrots tucked behind him and is looking upward with an expression that suggests he has absolutely no intention of explaining where they came from. We aren't asking questions. 😂 Both rabbits have wonderfully expressive faces, pink-lined ears, softly textured fur and warm hand-painted details. Their muted brown, cream, blue, green and orange coloring gives them that wonderfully nostalgic vintage look. They're sweet for Easter or spring decorating, but with faces like these, we certainly wouldn't blame anyone for keeping them out all year. When we rescued them, the smaller bunny arrived with one ear taped to his back and a tiny Band-Aid covering the spot where his ear used to be. Somehow, we didn't discover his predicament until we brought him home and started cleaning him. 🐰❤️ Back at the Mercantile, his ear was carefully reattached with clear Gorilla Glue. The repair is visible upon close inspection and is shown in the photographs. Both rabbits show minor surface wear consistent with age, handling and previous display. The taller bunny presents very nicely overall. We think our little patient cleaned up rather well, but his repaired ear is part of his story—and we want his next person to know exactly what they're bringing home. Why the Attic Mouse Rescued Them The Mouse has several questions. Why does one rabbit have two carrots? Why is the other hiding his carrots behind his back? And perhaps most importantly, what exactly happened in that garden that resulted in someone putting a Band-Aid on a ceramic rabbit? 🤣 We may never know. What we do know is that these two have apparently been partners in carrot-related misconduct for quite some time. One has even survived an unfortunate ear incident—and arrived at the Mercantile with his detached ear still along for the ride. They're vintage. They're imperfect. They're ridiculously charming. And around here, a repaired ear doesn't mean a treasure's story is over.
