This charming approximately 9” × 8” × 5” miniature chest features warm cedar construction with beautiful contrasting natural wood grain, a hinged lid, rounded edges and decorative front keyhole escutcheon. The interior is branded: Lane® Presented By Daneby’s Living Room Solon, Ohio 44139 Lane miniature cedar chests were promotional keepsakes distributed through participating furniture retailers and are often mistakenly described today as salesman samples. Lane originally introduced its miniature chests through its Girl Graduate Plan, presenting them to young women as graduation keepsakes while promoting the company’s full-size cedar hope chests. This example is especially attractive, with rich wood color and considerably nicer overall condition than many surviving examples.
