Areas of both matte and glossy surface give the piece wonderful depth and emphasize its handmade character. The interior is partially glazed in coordinating blue tones, while the underside is left predominantly unglazed and bears an incised artist signature. Striking handmade signed studio pottery pitcher with a beautifully sculptural form and layered blue, teal, slate and soft lavender-purple glazing. The pitcher has an especially appealing architectural shape, with a dramatically flared and gently pinched rim, substantial rounded handle and tall cylindrical body. The glaze transitions organically from dusky lavender-purple along the lower body into blue-gray, turquoise and deep teal toward the shoulder and rim. Areas of both matte and glossy surface give the piece wonderful depth and emphasize its handmade character. The interior is partially glazed in coordinating blue tones, while the underside is left predominantly unglazed and bears an incised artist signature.
