View Antique 1850s Daguerreotype Woman Portrait Cased Velvet Leather Photo with current marketplace pricing, condition, product images and item details. The book-style case features a heavily embossed exterior and a rich burgundy velvet interior panel with raised floral and scroll decoration. Velvet interior remains attractive with age-related wear. Antique mid-19th century cased portrait photograph of an unidentified seated woman, believed to be a daguerreotype dating to approximately the 1850s. The image has the distinctive reflective quality associated with daguerreotypes and changes dramatically depending on the viewing angle, sometimes appearing quite faint or ghostlike. Portrait is housed behind glass with an ornate gold-tone metal mat and decorative border. The book-style case features a heavily embossed exterior and a rich burgundy velvet interior panel with raised floral and scroll decoration. Closed case measures approximately 2.5 x 2.25 inches. A wonderful original piece of early photographic history with beautiful Victorian presentation. Condition: Antique condition with substantial age-related wear consistent with a photograph approximately 170 years old.  Image has fading, spotting, tarnish/discoloration, surface deterioration, and loss of contrast as pictured.  Case exterior shows rubbing, finish loss, edge wear, scuffs, and small areas of material loss.  Velvet interior remains attractive with age-related wear.  Part of the exterior closure is missing; the upper closure piece remains present.  Hinged case opens and displays nicely.  Sold as found.  Please review all photos closely for condition.
