The 8 TPI / 8 point tooth pattern makes this a general-purpose crosscut saw, intended for cutting across the grain rather than ripping with the grain. The skewback blade profile helped reduce weight while keeping a long, useful cutting edge, and this pattern became one of the most recognizable American handsaw designs. This saw has a great old-tool look with darkened steel, visible age, patina, oxidation, worn finish, and honest shop use throughout.
