Pair of French Porcelain Wall Sconces – 10-Inch Hand-Painted Bleu Céleste Plates with Pastoral Scenes in Gilt-Bronze Ormolu Mounts (19th-Century Sèvres-Style Revival, ca. 1840s–1880s, Imitation "A" Mark with Jean-Louis Morin Dot Signature) This impressive matched pair of wall sconces features two substantial 10-inch diameter porcelain plates mounted in heavy, finely chased gilt-bronze (ormolu) rococo-revival frames with scrolling foliate arms and single candle sockets (currently fitted with white taper candles for display). Each plate has a rich turquoise/bleu céleste ground with gold rim and border decoration, centered by romantic 18th-century-style pastoral scenes ("fête galante" figures in garden landscapes). The underside bears a blue underglaze script mark resembling a standalone "A" (imitation of Sèvres 1754 date-letter) accompanied by two blue dots at the base—a tribute to the celebrated Sèvres painter Jean-Louis Morin (active 1754–1787), known for his military, marine, and romantic scenes. The ormolu mounts are richly detailed with acanthus leaves, bows, scrolls, and high-relief chasing, finished in warm gold with light age patina. Unsigned beyond the mark (typical for revival pieces), but in excellent vintage condition: Porcelain crisp and undamaged (no chips, cracks, or crazing visible), paint vibrant and unfaded, ormolu bright and secure, mounts intact. A beautiful example of mid-19th-century French luxury revival in the "Sèvres taste," paying homage to Morin's legacy—perfect for adding neoclassical grandeur to a dining room, hallway, entry foyer, or formal sitting room!
