View Stanley Rule & Level No 13 circular wood plane Type 2 w/ solid nut & lever cap with current marketplace pricing, condition, product images and item details. Much of the japanning on the body is worn. The lever cap doesn't have any japanning along the lower edge in a neat line, but does not appear to have been ground down along the lower edge. This would be the Type Two in Walter's Stanley Tools book, with no model number on the body and with screws that attach the sole to the body. You are bidding on one Stanley Rule & Level Number 13 circular wood plane as pictured. It is marked with "BAILEY'S PATENT MARCH 28, 1871" on the front adjusting strut (a bit tough to make out the date), "BAILEY'S PATENT AUG 31, 1858 AUG 6, 1867" on the solid (not recessed) brass adjusting nut, and "L BAILEY'S PATENT DEC 24, 1867" on the iron (faint) and on the chip breaker. The frog is the proper pre-lateral frog.  This would be the Type Two in Walter's Stanley Tools book, with no model number on the body and with screws that attach the sole to the body. It would have been made from 1871 to 1878. The Type One had four "legs" that connected the sole to the ends of the body, and is extremely rare.  The iron is  a hair under 1-3/4" in width, and about 6-5/8" in length. Condition is good, especially for a plane of this vintage. Much of the japanning on the body is worn. The sole has some scattered spots of pitting on the bottom, and some much fainter pitting on the top surfaces. The iron and chip breaker have some pitting, especially on the underside of the chip breaker. The solid brass nut has some minor dings, and is not overcleaned. The lever cap doesn't have any japanning along the lower edge in a neat line, but does not appear to have been ground down along the lower edge.  Except as noted, there are no cracks or chips or chunks missing from any of the castings, and everything turns or operates properly.
