This is a striking pair of vintage Chinese Foo Dog (Shi Shi)) Guardian lion bookends, acquired from an estate sale - heavy, detailed; male & female pair with ornate bases. The owner stated they were brought back from Beijing, China, around the late 1960s/70s. They come in the original "Shen Long" box. They display classic traditional styling with excellent detail—curled manes, fierce protective expressions, and symbolic elements such as the male lion resting his paw on a ball and the female with a cub. Each bookend measures approximately 7" tall x 4.25" x 3". They each weigh 2.5 lb, giving them a substantial, stable feel, perfect for use as functional bookends or decorative statement pieces.
