View Vintage Matryoshka Nesting Doll Set of 9 Warrior Kings, USSR Hand Painted 1970s with current marketplace pricing, condition, product images and item details. The detail on these pieces is out of sight. I love the Kings version versus the classic peasant dolls with red cheeks. They are so beautiful I think they can be displayed wherever and whenever. I believe one of the pieces is scratch signed, but I can not make out the signature, it is the only doll that has a carved up bottom. Vintage set of 9 Matryoshka Nesting Dolls - these are a hand painted enamel on birch set of 9 nesting dolls which are stunning.  The detail on these pieces is out of sight.  I love the Kings version versus the classic peasant dolls with red cheeks.  Definitely a collectors souvenir set, and I can't find these online anywhere.  I was told by my gran that this series are "Warrior Kings", she could not remember if these were from Georgia, Ukraine, or outside of St Petersburg when she bought them.  At the time (1970) Russia was one country, the USSR.   She gave me several sets and of course I want to keep them all, but how many sets can one have??
