Charming set of four antique Noritake hand-painted porcelain nut or bonbon dishes, each resting on three tiny porcelain feet. These petite dishes feature a wonderfully detailed early Noritake decoration with warm yellow and green tones, reddish-orange flowers, leafy foliage and a softly rendered scenic landscape in the center. A warm brown painted rim completes the design. Because these pieces are hand decorated, there are subtle variations from dish to dish that give the set wonderful character. Each measures approximately 2 ½ inches in diameter and about ¾ inch high. The undersides carry the green Noritake M-in-wreath / Hand Painted / Made in Japan backstamp. The “M” represents Morimura, the company associated with early Noritake production. This Made in Japan form of the mark is associated with Noritake’s prewar production following the Nippon-marked era. A lovely little set for an Old Noritake collection, antique china display, individual nuts or candies, or simply as beautiful miniature decorative dishes.
