It is truly a special light. I’m very excited to offer this incredible, restored c.1910’s era SILVER PLATED pan style chandelier featuring beautiful starburst motif wheel cut glass shades. I have restored hundreds of vintage light fixtures, but I have NEVER offered a chandelier quite like this one. This is one of the finest pieces of lighting I have ever listed for sale. It is a truly remarkable piece. Though I have handled countless vintage fixtures, only a handful that I’ve ever worked on have quite the atmospheric quality that this chandelier has. It is truly a special light. ***NOTE!*** I HAVE A COMPLIMENTARY, COMPANION CHANDELIER OF THE SAME DESIGN AND IN THE SAME SILVER FINISH THAT IS A THREE-LIGHT VERSION OF THIS ONE! This fixture, from about 1910, is in amazing vintage condition with a wonderfully soft, satiny silver finish. I have not polished the metal as to preserve its time-acquired patina, but it did get a thorough cleaning. There are some minor surface irregularities and blemishes, but this can be expected from any fixtures from this era. A fixture like this is special, as although pan style lighting was wildly popular in the early 20th century, this particular fixture is of REMARKABLY high quality. The main body is stamped from heavy gauge sheet brass, and the INCREDIBLE tassel motif socket housings are cast, and exquisitely detailed. Fixtures like this are normally seen in a brass or golden tone finish, whereas this piece is silver plated - which was an expensive upcharge. All of these fine details gesture to this pieces high quality origins. All that being said, pan lights are still seen through a modern lense as being “common” and are often tossed in renovations, making them not easy to come by in good condition anymore. This piece was expensive in its day (as it is now!), and was likely originally installed in a very fine, high end home. The sockets are original to the fixture, while the wiring and mounting hardware are all new, the wiring being cloth covered as the original was. The wheel cut shades, which feature delicate stars and bars, are absolutely lovely, and complement the finer details of the fixture quite well. They are free of notable chips and flaws save a handful of unremarkable flea bites to their fitter rims, which is normal for vintage glass. They light well and emit a charming, cozy glow. That the entire set of four has survived all these decades intact is remarkable. The scale of this light makes it ideal for a large, grand room, measuring at about 16 - inches wide, measured from shade-to-shade, and about 46 - inches long. I may be able to shorten the drop if necessary, by replacing the original threaded drop rod. Please contact me prior to purchase if you may need me to do this, and allow extra time for shipping for such modifications. I picture this fixture in a formal dining room, a large sitting room, a foyer, or even in a stairhall landing/common space. Pan lights were wildly popular in the earlier decades of the 20th century, and are very versatile light fixtures that work in just about any space, though this one in particular is MUCH more grand and ornate than more commonly seen fixtures of its kind. The sale includes all the necessary mounting hardware, light bulbs are not included. I ship via UPS Ground. This fixture is VERY large and VERY heavy, necessitating an oversize box. I will likely have to send the shades separately in another box for their safety during transit.
