MIRIAM HASKELL 50'S SIGN 3-PC SET~NWT~WHITE PEARLS W GILT BRASS RONDELLE ACCENTS This auction is for an absolutely gorgeous multiple string/strand bib necklace, matching cluster earrings and dangle bracelet, all designed and hand made for Miriam Haskell CIRCA 1950's. The necklace is a choker and features seven (7), strands of white baroque glass pearls. The pearls are between 5-6 mm. They are accentuated by corrugated gold gilt brass beads and diamond cut raw brass spacer beads. The necklace fastens with a gold gilt brass decorated box clasp with push tongue latch.  The box clasp can be worn to the front of the neck as a pendant or at the nape of the neck.  The clasp is signed/hallmarked “MIRIAM HASKELL” on the underside.  The necklace is constructed in such a way that it can be worn as a bib, or the strands twisted so it can be worn as torsade choker.   The necklace has a substantial solid weight and the design has an unusually rich exquisite look with feel of real gold, and pearls.     The matching earrings are gold gilt brass.  Each earring is a tight round 3-D cluster of the tiny white baroque pearls interwoven in the gold gilt brass lattice findings.  The pearls and brass lattice are handwired and attached to gold gilt filigree base.   The earrings fasten with small paddle backs.  Both clip backs are signed ‘MIRIAM HASKELL’.    The matching bracelet is a gold gilt brass chain link with dangles of white baroque glass pearls.  The pearls are 5mm and 7mm.  The bracelet fastens with a decorated box clasp similar to the one on the necklace.  The clasp is signed/hallmarked “MIRIAM HASKELL” on the underside.  The beads and brass accents used in construction of the pieces in this set is of the best quality and were sourced from Japan and/or Europe.   Mr. Frank Hess was the head designer during the 1950, and the pieces were all hand made by some of the  best craftsmen in the USA,   There was strict quality control and attention was paid to details of each piece.   This  contributes to the smooth finish, exquisite beauty and well preserved condition of the pieces.  The piece will appreciate in value over the years if gently worn and carefully stored.   DIMENSIONS & WEIGHT : All measurements are approximate and taken at longest/widest points. NECKLACE ~14½”L .   This is the measurement of the shortest strand and the box clasp when laid flat in a straight line. The clasp is  1” in diameter and is ¾”  in thickness.  When twisted as a torsade choker, it measures 13½”L including the clasp.   NOTE : PLEASE ENSURE THAT YOUR NECK MEASURE IS NO MORE THAN 13” if you intend to wear this necklace. The necklace has a good substantial weight of approximately whopping 139 grams. EARRINGS ~ 1” in diameter and ½” in thickness.  Each earring weighs 6 grams. BRACELET ~ 7½”L X 1”W.  The clasp is  1” in diameter and is ¾”  in thickness.  The bracelet weighs 29 grams. CONDITION : This is pre-owned 1950's vintage jewelry.  The necklace is new, never worn and still has the paper tag attached.  The earrings and bracelet look new, but I assume have been gently worn as the tags are not attached.  The necklace and matching pieces were purchase from the original owner at an estate sale in Manhattan, New York in 1980’s. The findings of the jewelry are all original and very well preserved. There is some tarnish, which gives the pieces a rich Russian gold hue.  It is not obtrusive or distracting.  Under lamp light the pieces look like genuine pearls and real gold. The threading of the necklace has no fraying or stretching.  The box clasp and push tongue latch of both the necklace and bracelet fasten securely.  The underside of  both clasps has no wear or scratches. The earrings are fairly well preserved as well.  The underside of both has tarnish which is age related.  The clip backs are clean, no patina and both fit snug. Structurally, the pieces are all very well preserved with minor flaws due to aging as noted above.  This is a beautiful and rare necklace, bracelet and earrings set which will not disappoint.  PLEASE REMEMBER, THAT SOME VINTAGE PIECES ARE FRAGILE DUE TO AGE and should be handled gently and with care .  The beads are glass so care should be taken not to drop the pieces.
