This is a really pretty fine bone china teacup and saucer set made by Crown Staffordshire of Stoke-on-Trent England. The cup holds 3/4 of a cup. The set weighs 9 ounces. Maybe a bit of rub wear to the gold I only noticed under a bright light. This is a really pretty fine bone china teacup and saucer set made by Crown Staffordshire of Stoke-on-Trent England. The cup has a lovely shape, scalloped at the top, with a small foot and a handle with a thumb rest. The saucer has scallops on the edge too. They both have a delicate design of pink roses and small purple forget-me-nots. Crown Staffordshire was a china manufacturer at a factory named Minerva Works in Fenton, Stoke-on-Trent England. The Green family had been making pottery there since 1833, and in 1889 still under the control of Green brothers, the company was renamed itself Crown Staffordshire Porcelain Co, which was in business until 1985, eventually under the name Crown Staffordshire China Company. The backstamp on this set, was the standard mark with the words “Fine Bone China” and was used from 1930 onwards, according to the potteries.org. Not sure when this set was made though, since that backstamp was used for several decades. The cup holds 3/4 of a cup. It is 2 & 3/4 inches tall and 3 & 1/4 inches in diameter, the saucer is 5 & 1/2 inches in diameter. The set weighs 9 ounces. This set is in excellent vintage condition with no chips, cracks, or crazing. Maybe a bit of rub wear to the gold I only noticed under a bright light. Looking at an angle to the light at the saucer there are a few very faint marks in the glaze. What a joy it would be to enjoy a cup of tea or coffee in such an elegant set, and then display it because it is so lovely!
