The No. 5C is the corrugated-sole version of Stanley’s classic No. 5 jack plane. The grooved sole was designed to reduce friction as the plane moves across the workpiece. This example is complete with its original cast-iron body, frog, lever cap, cutter, chipbreaker, adjustment hardware, front knob, and rear tote. The plane is complete, including the cast-iron body, frog, lever cap, Sweetheart cutter, chipbreaker, and adjustment hardware. Cast-Iron Body: The body and corrugated sole show moderate surface rust, oxidation, patina, and storage grime consistent with age. No apparent cracks or major structural breaks were observed in the cast iron. Front Wooden Knob: The front knob has a visible vertical split/crack through the wood. Rear Wooden Tote: The rear tote is structurally intact but has a noticeable gash/damaged area in the wood. This cosmetic/wood condition issue is shown in the photos and should be considered when evaluating the item.
