This ring is an interesting antique design with an integrated six-prong buttercup style setting. This listing is for an awesome 14 karat yellow gold ladies ring featuring an old mine cut natural diamond.  This ring is really the best of both worlds in a vintage ring!  The diamond is an authentic antique diamond that we estimate was cut Circa 1890.  The mounting is a brand new, yet authentic vintage ring setting.  It is of modern manufacture but made from an actual vintage mold the company has been using for many decades.  You get an authentic vintage ring, but with the advantage of having been made with a modern, plumb gold alloy and without many of the inherent problems present in an antique mounting! The diamond measures approximately 5.2 x 4.8 x 3.6 mm with an actual weight of 0.66 carat. We grade the diamond at M color (with very strong blue fluorescence) and VS-1 in clarity.   Being an old mine cut, the cut is not typically graded as to proportions and finish (the cut is assumed to be crude by modern standards). As indicated earlier, this is a pre-owned diamond, an early mine cut that we estimate was cut before 1900.  The diamond is in very good condition for having been cut over 125 years ago.  There are no significant chips, just the kind of minor abrasions one would expect to see in any diamond of this age.  Note that there is an indented natural on the crown of the diamond that somewhat resembles a chip.  But in actuality, this is a part of the skin of the original rough diamond that the diamond cutter intentionally left because it is not all that noticeable and because removing it would have resulted in a much smaller finished diamond (and because diamond cutting was a difficult process when this stone was cut). The diamond is 100% genuine, natural, earth mined, untreated, and unenhanced.  Natural diamonds have a centuries long history of appreciating in value, whereas lab grown diamonds have an undeniable history of costing less and less money every year.  Don't settle for a mass-produced lab grown diamond that lacks the rarity of the diamonds your parents and grandparents had! The ring is by a wonderful Florida company established in 1940, K. Goldschmidt Jewelers, style number R1223.  K. Goldschmidt manufacturers pieces today still using many of the same molds, tools, and techniques as was used generations ago.  The result is not really a vintage reproduction, but rather an authentic continued production.  In fact, the current owner sometimes sees pieces his grandfather manufactured decades ago in lots of estate jewelry...and that are still active designs being produced today!  K. Goldschmidt was our go-to manufacturer of choice in our former fine jewelry store whenever we acquired a nice, pre-owned, vintage diamond that was in a worn-out setting. This ring is an interesting antique design with an integrated six-prong buttercup style setting.  It is currently a finger size 6.5 but is easily sizable by any competent jeweler.  The ring weighs 3.8 grams (over $300 just in melt value of the gold as we write this)!  The ring is about 8 mm wide at the widest at the top, and about 1.8 mm wide at the narrowest at the back.  This ring is solid 14K yellow gold, and the mounting is brand new; don't be duped into buying a cheap plated ring or someone else's worn-out castoff!
