The handle is sound and solid, but was once a leather cap, which is long gone now, as pictured. For sale is a antique Witherby bevel edge socket firmer chisel, weighing 4.3 oz., and measuring 3/4" wide X 5-15/16" long, with a very worn 3-11/16" long wood handle.  Signed "T.H. Witherby Warranted", it is in very good overall  condition, showing normal use and wear, with a good edge, which will respond well to honing and sharpening by a experienced hand.
