DESCRIPTION An exceptional Japanese ginbari cloisonné vase dating to the late Meiji or early Taishō period, distinguished by its unusual wireless enamel decoration and elegant Art Nouveau character. The slender, beautifully balanced form is covered with a luminous abstract composition of emerald green, turquoise blue, soft ivory, silver, and deep aubergine. Instead of conventional outlined decoration, the colors flow freely across the surface in elongated, painterly bands, creating a remarkably modern appearance. Executed in the wireless, or musen, technique, the design contains no visible wires separating the colored areas. Translucent enamels laid over a shimmering textured foil ground create extraordinary depth, brilliance, and movement as the vase is viewed under changing light. The softly flared neck, rounded shoulders, and elongated profile complement the fluid decoration beautifully. Although modest in size, this vase possesses a powerful visual presence and represents an unusual and highly artistic expression of Japanese cloisonné from the late Meiji–early Taishō period.
