For sale is a magnificent, massive estate lot of vintage mid-century Japanese Moriage Dragonware porcelain. Produced during the post-WWII export boom (circa 1950s), these striking pieces feature elaborate, hand-painted gold dragons set against a white porcelain background with rich orange, brown, and gold accents. The stunning 3D texture is created using the traditional Moriage technique—a raised-relief slip-decorating method that brings the dragons to life. This stunning collection features the highly sought-after hidden Geisha girl lithophane feature. When the empty porcelain tea cups are held up to a direct light source, a beautiful, highly detailed, and translucent three-dimensional portrait of a traditional Japanese Geisha becomes visible in the bottom floor of the cup. Many of the handles, spouts, and lid finials are uniquely hand-sculptured directly into the shapes of dragon heads.
