Easy and convenient but only manufactured from 1871 to 1878 This is a rare 6 inch sweep model number 14 example on a brace that is even very rare in The standard 10” sweep. Millers Falls acquired the patent a year after the patent date. It is complete and still works properly. The head handle is Lignum vitae and wrist handle is rosewood. The joints are all still tight and firm no excess wobble. This one was made very soon after the Millers Falls company was incorporated, about 1877 or so at least 140 years ago or possibly an Albert Goodell manufacture just prior to the sale to Millers Falls. The original makers mark are faint and hard to make out. The American Patented Brace by Pearson lists this bit stock as an (A) rarity. This means that fewer than 5 examples had been seen at the time of publication. Gently cleaned, lubricated and tested. Looks and works great. Fine collectible, and user if desired. If the tool I have acquired is serviceable I will put it into as good of condition it can be and sell to friends or on eBay.
