View Japanese Meiji Bronze Box Mt Fuji, makers mark with current marketplace pricing, condition, product images and item details. The side of the box also represent the bamboo on the lid. There is a maker's mark of the Rising Sun on the bottom of the box. The underside of the lid is silvered. The inside of the box was once silvered but now has a residue that has removed most of it. Offered is a very finely and deeply sculpted circular showing Mount Fuji and bamboo. The box shows some silvering on the cap of Fuji, and darkening agent applied to the bamboo. The side of the box also represent the bamboo on the lid. There is a maker's mark of the Rising Sun on the bottom of the box. The underside of the lid is silvered. The inside of the box was once silvered but now has a residue that has removed most of it. What makes this box remarkable is the artistry involved in producing such a fine and deeply detailed bronze casting.It really needs close inspection to appreciate the level of detail achieved by the artist. I believe that the lid was once brighter with both black and silvering having worn over the years. This box was definitely 'used' (not sure what for) and while there is no damage it does show that use. On the other hand, it has acquired a beautiful bronze patina. One of the nicest examples of Japanese bronze boxes I have ever seen. A valuable acquisition for any serious collector.The box is 3 1/8" in diameter and 1 1/4" high.
