I am gradually selling my salt cellar and individual nut dish collection that at one time was over 1,800 pieces.   This piece had been in my collection since 1984.   It is signed on the bottom with the “Hand Painted Nippon” green wreath mark. I see a salt somewhat similar in shape, but smaller, to this one pictured as Photo # 1362 in the book: 5,000 Open Salts by William Heacock & Patricia Johnson.   A very nice and attractive little salt or individual nut dish. AGE AND CONDITION: Circa 1915.   It is in excellent to near mint original condition.   Please look closely at the photos as they are an important part of my description of this item.   There are no chips, flea bites, hairlines, cracks, scratches, repairs to the porcelain. I see only some very minor wear to the gold trim – see the photos.   It rings like a bell when I tap it on the edge with my ring.   The mark you may see on the outside of the bowl, in the porcelain, is manufacturing flaw and not damage.   Please keep in mind the photos may be blown up at least 8-10 times normal, so anything you see will look 8-10 times larger in the photos than it really is. Please note: if you see a dark spot in the photos, it is from my camera and is not a mark on the piece.   It will be either just to the right of center towards the bottom or slightly above center on the right side of the photo. APPROXIMATE DIMENSIONS : The bowl is about 3.25” (8.3 cm) across and sits about 1.75” (4.4 cm) off the table.
