I would just cut the strings off. It has a swirly mother of pearl look to the top. Mirror inside is not good. Unique old silky black purse with silver metal beading. The hinged opening is some kind of plastic, not sure if Bakelite. It has a swirly mother of pearl look to the top. Mirror inside is not good. Closure is good. Plastic chain wrist handle is 4 1/2" The lining and beading look good. There was a tassel on the bottom that has lost the beads but no damage to the purse. I would just cut the strings off.
