I did notice when photographing, that this bag's beads could be dusted or cleaned off, possibly using a damp soft rag and little dish soap?. Vtg 1940s Beaded Bakelite Box Purse Pleated Ruched skirt . This has been stored for decades in a thick plastic zippered bag, within a box.  Prior to that, in its day, it appears to have been gently used. The hardware is all intact and working. The twisted beaded handle is very sturdy.  The beads are securely attached. The strong thick lid closes/snaps securely. There are no holes in the fabric. The lid opens three quarters of the way to drop in your belongings. The original mirror has some discoloration and marks. The Bakelite tortoise shell hatch top has some faint scratches.  I show them in the images with the light skimming the lid, so they are apparent (image 5.)  In addition, the inside brown fabric lining in the bag has some blue (eye liner, ink or shadow?) marks.   All flaws/age/usage marks are shown in my photos.  I don't want there to be any surprises! Otherwise, everything looks AWESOME and the bag is an incredible statement piece.  It sits perfectly level with no damage to the sturdy structure. The hardware is all in perfect working condition without any problems.  I am assuming the metal can easily be shined up with a metal cleaner. I often don't clean up these old items because I am never sure what to use and don't want to cause any damage.   I did notice when photographing, that this bag's beads could be dusted or cleaned off, possibly using a damp soft rag and little dish soap?  Though, it was enclosed, there is some dust?    It is monogrammed, but I am not sure what the initials are;  they sure make a beautiful design, though.   I "think" this belonged to my great- grandmother, before she got married, but that still doesn't solve the initial identification.   I'm pretty sure the first and last initials are both G's.  The center, a "B or R?"   Sorry.     If anyone who looks at this bag knows about calligraphy and can identify the letters, I would love to know.  Thanks. The braided, beaded handle is 16 inches long.  It is thick, strong and actually very comfortable to hold. Because the beautiful purse lid clasps tightly, there is no worry about the purse contents accidentally spilling out. FYI- I am having trouble with my camera to computer images (my computer is on its last breath) so I was very limited when picking photos out (it keeps deleting my images.) Also, I didn't have the best backgrounds available.  I usually do better with my listings....  My photos don't show how incredible this bag is.  It really is stunning! Please look as all photos because they count as part of the description.   I attempted to show all angles in a couple different light situations. I had to take a break from eBay for a few years and a lot has changed, as have I.  I no longer can get to the post office daily.  My processing time is 1-3 days.  Thank you for understanding  AND Also-thank you for looking.
