Up for sale is a beautiful and authentic Japanese Imari (Arita) porcelain bowl in a desirable square fluted shape. This piece is unmarked, which is characteristic of authentic export Imari from the late 19th century. Excellent Antique Condition. No chips, cracks, or repairs. The gilding and overglaze enamels are remarkably well-preserved with vibrant colors. Features a clean, unglazed footrim and minor production characteristics (glaze pitting) typical of authentic hand-finished Meiji-era porcelain. Up for sale is a beautiful and authentic Japanese Imari (Arita) porcelain bowl in a desirable square fluted shape. This piece dates to the late Meiji period (c. 1890) and showcases high-quality "Kinrande" (gold-decorated) craftsmanship. Design Highlights: • Central Medallion: Features two hand-painted Phoenixes (Hō-ō), symbolizing harmony and grace. • Decorative Panels: Alternating "reserves" featuring traditional Asanoha (hemp leaf) geometric patterns and lush floral arrangements. • Palette: Classic "Imari" scheme utilizing deep underglaze cobalt blue, vibrant iron-red enamels, and heavy gold leaf gilding. • Exterior: The outside of the bowl is decorated with iron-red scrolling vines and floral sprays, leading down to a clean, square-cut unglazed foot. Hand painted design will have natural imperfections in linear and static brushstrokes.
