Up for sale is a beautiful antique Japanese Kutani ware porcelain sake cup (Ochoko / Guinomi) dating to the late Meiji or early Taisho period (late 19th to early 20th century). The interior features a stunning, heavily gilded (gold leaf) central medallion depicting three scholars/sages unrolling a scroll. The scene is finely hand-painted using traditional Aka-e (red enamel) fine line work. The inner rim is decorated with a detailed geometric and radiating linear border. The exterior is beautifully finished with a gold and red floral scroll motif. The base bears the classic red square "Fuku" (Good Fortune) seal mark inside a double border.
