Each arm ends in a V-shaped notch, giving the star the classic Maltese cross shape. The eagle stands on a stippled background inside a beaded outer rim. The condition is used and pre-owned with light wear. I am pleased to offer this Masonic Knights Templar Order of Malta star jewel. It is an eight-pointed gold-tone metal star with white enamel filling the arms between the points. Each arm ends in a V-shaped notch, giving the star the classic Maltese cross shape. The center of the star holds a round gold-tone medallion with a finely detailed American bald eagle, its wings spread, with the shield of the United States on its breast. The eagle stands on a stippled background inside a beaded outer rim. The jewel hangs from a dark blue woven ribbon that is folded over at the top to form a chevron-shaped finial with a gold-tone metal edge. A horizontal metal pin bar is sewn into the back of the ribbon so the jewel can be pinned to a uniform or jacket. The reverse of the star is plain gold-tone metal with no maker marks or inscriptions that I can see. These star jewels are traditionally worn by Knights Templar Commandery members in connection with the Order of Malta. It would make a fine addition to any Masonic or fraternal memorabilia collection. The condition is used and pre-owned with light wear. The gold-tone plating looks bright overall with gentle toning in the recesses. The white enamel is intact with a few tiny dark specks visible on close inspection. The ribbon shows light age and gentle wear with a bit of fraying at the folds and slight fading.
